Who we are
We are building the future of banking in Africa.
Today, less than 30% of African consumers have access to adequate banking services. While mobile money has emerged as the primary means of consumer finance due to its superior accessibility and lower costs, it does not offer the financial services that create wealth and financing opportunities, which are essential pillars of long-term financial stability.
In November 2020, we launched a revolutionary financial app, offering a full range of services encompassing payments, transfers, as well as savings and investments. To date, more than one million Djamo users across Ivory Coast and Senegal have had access to radically cheaper and better financial services.
We are proud to have secured the backing of world-class investors, including Y Combinator, Partech, Janngo Capital, Enza Capital, and Oikocredit, underlining our potential and commitment to reshape the financial services landscape in Africa.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager – Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) to lead the strategy, development, and scaling of Djamo’s business banking solutions.
With the extensive network of underserved entrepreneurs and SMEs in our markets, there is an urgent need for better tools for business accounts, payments and cash-flow management. This role is pivotal in creating simple, compliant, and impactful financial products that help small businesses run their operations smoothly and grow sustainably.
You will own the end-to-end product lifecycle for our SMB solutions—from business accounts and multi-user access to invoicing, merchant payments, working-capital features, and future lending products.
You’ll report to the Head of Product and collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Risk & Compliance, Growth, Finance, and Customer Success teams to deliver high-quality business experiences.
What You’ll Do
Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and own the SMB product vision and strategy, aligned with Djamo’s mission to drive financial inclusion and empower entrepreneurs.
- Build a 3–12 month roadmap balancing business customer needs, growth objectives, compliance requirements, and operational scalability.
- Identify opportunities to launch or enhance products such as business current accounts, multi-wallet features, merchant payment tools, expense management, and partner-driven credit lines.
- Drive Djamo’s SMB offering expansion to new countries across Western Africa, adapting solutions to local regulations, tax regimes, and business practices.
Execution & Delivery
- Translate strategy into clear product requirements, PRDs, and user stories that guide engineering and design teams.
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Finance to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable SMB products.
- Prioritize ruthlessly to focus on the highest-impact initiatives that deliver value to our SMB users.
- Ensure compliance with local business-banking regulations, KYB/AML standards, and data-privacy requirements.
Customer Focus & Growth
- Conduct customer research, market analysis, and data-driven insights to understand the financial behaviors and pain points of small business owners.
- Optimize onboarding, activation, and engagement flows to help SMBs easily open accounts, accept payments, manage cash flow, and access credit.
- Partner with Growth, Marketing, and Customer Success to design campaigns, referral programs, and education materials that drive adoption and retention.
Operational Excellence
- Define and track KPIs such as active SMB accounts, transaction volume, business deposits, churn, credit utilization, and product-level profitability.
- Collaborate with Operations and Finance to ensure smooth onboarding, merchant settlements, dispute handling, and treasury processes.
- Lead incident reviews and drive continuous improvements to ensure a reliable and trusted experience for SMB customers.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–8+ years of Product Management experience, with at least 3+ years in SMB/Business Banking, FinTech, or related B2B financial services.
- Strong understanding of business account structures, payments & collections, invoicing, expense management, credit evaluation, and regulatory considerations for SMEs.
- Proven track record of launching and scaling digital financial products for SMBs at a fintech, neobank, or financial institution.
- Experience working in highly regulated financial environments and with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams.
- Hands-on, data-driven approach, comfortable using SQL, product analytics, and A/B testing to inform prioritization and measure impact.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills—able to work across engineering, operations, compliance, and executive leadership.
- Fluent in English; professional proficiency in French is highly valuable.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with POS or merchant-payment integrations, accounting software partnerships, or embedded finance solutions for SMBs.
- Experience in working-capital or lending products tailored to SMEs.
- Technical background or hands-on experience with APIs, ERP integrations, or payment gateways.
- Prior experience in Western Africa or other emerging markets.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary & equity package.
- Opportunity to define the future of SME financial services for millions of entrepreneurs in Africa.
- A fast-paced, high-impact environment with world-class colleagues.
- Flexible working environment and remote-first culture.
- Professional development budget and mentorship opportunities.
- A role with room to grow into senior leadership as Djamo scales.
